Classical
Artist and Portrait Painter
My
passion for art began in 1993 when I playfully drew a friend's image,
in crayon, on a restaurant's paper tablecloth. I realized that I had captured
their likeness and, surprised at the result, I kept on drawing and have
never stopped. A whole new world had opened up for me. Portraiture became
my passion. I still find inspiration in the exploration of the human face
and form and capturing the person's personality or "essence".
Although my media is primarily oil, I enjoy the speed and vibrant color
of pastel.
Currently
I am focusing on a series of paintings of birds in their environment and
humorous works of dogs in costume. I am enjoying this lighter, more satirical
side of art, and it is being reflected in my work.
Through teaching, I share my love for art. Observing my students work
helps me stay fresh and invigorated. Life is full of wonderful images,
and art is one way to capture, interpret and prolong those marvelous moments.
Life is exciting, and is meant to be experienced by all of one's senses
and shared lovingly with others.
