Until
1991 I never imagined I would have time to create "Art". Raising
seven children and being a professional volunteer filled the first thirty-seven
years of married life. Now, what began as a desire to express my life experiences
through painting has become my passion.
Nature
and the changing season have always been influential in my art. Although
the Impressionists influenced my first paintings, I have become more abstract
in my interpretations in the last five years, using lots of paint and
palette knife application. I start out with a subject in mind but as I
apply the paint to the canvas, a color or shape may take me in a different
direction. Since I started painting I have also explored other media such
as printmaking and ceramics to expand my understanding of the creation
of art.
My
paintings have been shown in several group shows in the metroplex and
been selected for juried shows. It gives me great joy to know that my
work is now hanging throughout the country, and that what began as a private
need to express myself has found a place in other peoples homes
